Former cabinet minister and BJP leader Rajendra Trivedi on Monday celebrated his birthday amid multiple social events across Vadodara. Trivedi called upon Jain spiritual leaders, who had arrived in the city, to seek their blessings. He then participated in charity events to mark his birthday. The former Gujarat Speaker distributed clothes among sanitation workers of the civic body's Ward 14- where he resides; and food packets to inmates of the Mental Health Institute in Karelibaug. Meanwhile, the Vadodara city unit of the Congress also put up a united front as it distributed food to patients at the SSG Hospital in the city to mark Rahul Gandhi's birthday. Glass half full A passing mention of salaries offered in GIFT City was made on Monday when an official said the salaries in GIFT City were lower than those offered in Mumbai."Trading in Singapore is costly. This cost is almost nil here. Those who cannot open offices in Singapore can do international trading from GIFT City where salaries paid are lesser than that of Mumbai," said the official. Last year, a real-estate developer cited low salaries in GIFT City as one of the deterrents for setting up a project in Gandhinagar.
