The bodies of the mother and the child were retrieved by the River Rescue Team on January 15. The deceased woman was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 103, on the charge of murdering her son, on Saturday.
The FIR, filed by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Rinkal Mohan Desai, stated that a constable had received information from the police control room about the body of a woman floating in the Sabarmati river near the sports complex in Paldi.
After the River Rescue Team of the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) retrieved the body, they discovered another body, that of the toddler, tied to her waist.
