The Vadodara police have arrested three of the six accused in a daring heist at the SBI ATM, where the gang painted CCTV cameras black and used gas-cutters to rob Rs 19 lakh Tuesday. The police have cracked the gang by arresting three accused, even as the hunt continues for the absconding thieves.
According to the police, the gang entered the SBI ATM on the Dharamsinh Desai Road in Navayard area Tuesday night.
They covered the lens of the CCTV cameras with black spray paint and used gas-cutters to rip open the ATM, decamping with a booty of Rs 19.3 lakh. The Fatehgunj police probe arrested Navjyot Singh alias Lalo, Rajendrasinh Rathod and Sumit alias Raisinh Gohil. The three belong to Angadh in Vadodara taluka and have confessed to being involved in several other ATM robberies in Anand and Vadodara districts.
The police have seized oxygen cylinders, LPG cylinders and fire safety devices from the gang, along with a complete recovery of Rs 19.3 lakh.
