Gujarat Assembly: PAC recommends framing of policy, rules to expeditiously correct defects in management of roads and bridges
The Committee has also recommended inspection to check if sand mining is being done around the pillars of bridges over rivers, affecting the structure's carrying capacity
The recommendations have been made by the PAC with reference to its inquiry with the department into some observations of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report of 2015-16 regarding inspection of the schemes of the R&B Department.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Gujarat Assembly, in one of its reports, has recommended the Roads and Buildings Department to, if necessary, frame policy, rules and instructions to expeditiously correct the deficiencies or defects cropping up in technical management, maintenance and supervision of infrastructure facilities like roads, bridges, buildings and complexes being constructed by it, and to fix responsibility of the official or department concerned.
The Committee has also recommended that the department coordinate with the local police and department of mines & minerals to carry out an inspection to check if sand mining is being done around the pillars of bridges over rivers that could affect the structure’s carrying capacity.
