A day after a 12-year-old boy drowned in an open underground water tank at Aatapi theme park, Waghodia police registered a complaint against the operators and those in charge of the filtration plant at the theme park.
A case under IPC section 304 (A) (death due to negligence) was registered by Waghodia police against unidentified persons.
On Wednesday, Hasnain Usman Mansuri, who visited the water themepark with his family from Kheda, fell into a 10-foot deep underground water tank whose lid was open. The post mortem report confirmed the cause of death as drowning.
The boy’s parents said he had gone towards the filtration tank to change his clothes, and when he did not return, they went looking for him. The theme park’s management also joined the search and finally found him inside the open tank. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
Initially a case of accidental death was registered but the family alleged negligence on the part of the theme park’s management as the water tank was kept open.
“We registered a case of death due to negligence. We are questioning and investigating who was responsible for the water tank at the filtration plant and who kept it irresponsibly open. We can only make arrests after (gathering) enough evidence,” Investigating Officer BR Rathod said.
