For the first time after Vijay Rupani took over as the new chief minister of Gujarat, 10 senior IAS officials were transferred on Friday. They included Arvind Agarwal, additional chief secretary, Industries and Mines department. Agarwal, who was overlooking the preparations for the Vibrant Gujarat event, has been shunted out to the forest and environment department. P K Taneja, additional chief secretary, home department, has been appointed in place of Agarwal. M S Dagur, additional chief secretary, forest and environment, will replace Taneja in home department.
The vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) A K Rakesh has also been transferred and appointed as Principal Secretary, Cottage and Rural Industries, Industries and Mines Department. Mukesh Puri, Principal Secretary, Narmada, Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar Department (water supply) will now head GMB. Puri will also continue holding the additional charge of his present department.
Another important transfer is that of Anil Mukim, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department. He will now be ACS, Finance Department, and will also continue holding the additional charge of ACS (Personnel), General Administration Department.
Vipul Mitra, who recently took over as the Principal Secretary, Ports and Transport department, has been transferred as Principal Secretary, Transport. Similarly, Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Primary & Secondary education) has also been transferred and appointed as Principal Secretary, Labour and Employment department. L Chuaungo will now take his place.
