Whether they get permission or not, Kshatriya organisations protesting against Union Minister Parshottam Rupala Friday stated that they will hold a mega gathering (maha sammelan) in Rajkot, from where he is contesting the Lok Sabha election, on April 14.

They have also announced two more such events at Himmatnagar and Bharuch on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at Rajput Samaj Bhavan in Gota area of Ahmedabad on Friday, Karansinh Chavda, a leader of the coordination committee of the Kshatriya organisations, “We are going to meet the mamlatdar today (for permission). Ours is a social sammelan and not a political one. We will hold the sammelan whether we get the permission or not. The sammelan is going to be attended not only by the Kshatriya community members, but all the communities who have supported us”.

When asked what would they do if the BJP does not cancel Rupala’s candidature, Chavda said that they would decide and declare their future strategy as and when required. “Currently, we are opposing Rupala. We stick to it. We will decide our strategy in the future,” Chavda said. Rupala has announced that he will file his nomination papers on April 16.

When pointed out that Rupala has apologised for his comments and the demand from various quarters to the Kshatriya community to forgive the BJP candidate, Chavda said that the Union minister has not apologised in true sense, but has only done “political drama”.

“When a person apologises, his attitude and his language show that the person is really apologising. Rupala’s body language and words show that he is not at all sorry. This is only a political drama. His apology is political. There is no sensitivity in it,” Chavda said.
