The Gujarat government Thursday signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with premier institutes for availing support of experts in various technological advancements, skilling, policy decisions and their implementation.
The MoUs were signed with Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) Gandhinagar, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad and Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) Gandhinagar during the ‘Good Governance Day’ celebrations held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
State government spokesperson and minister Jitu Vaghani said, “As part of the citizen-centric and good governance steps, various policies of the petrochemicals and energy department were announced today. Apart from this, MoUs have also been signed with various reputed institutes in the field of technology and knowledge.”
The MoUs cover various areas including best management practices, use of AI, cybersecurity in power and energy systems, skilling for green jobs, geo-thermal and nuclear energy.
“This is the era of Artificial Intelligence. AI can be used for good governance and a taskforce has been formed for the same. Laying emphasis on the use of AI, today the state government has launched the G-Saar portal, in which more than 24,000 government documents are available in digital form with repositories,” the minister said.
The QR code-based document verification has been started at the Chief Minister’s Office, the minister said, adding that it will be implemented in various government departments in the coming days. By scanning the QR code, it will be possible to verify that the government document is genuine, Vaghani added.
Another MoU was signed between Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) and various institutions for educational research and capacity building. “With its implementation, Gujarat’s administration will become more people-oriented and people-friendly. From now on, by coordinating technology and transparency, all the examinations of SPIPA will be conducted through computer-based and online medium, so that along with transparency, time of the students will be saved,” the minister said.
