Six days after a 40-year-old man was found murdered in the Sarkhej area, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad police arrested four youths in this connection on Thursday.
The police said that the victim,Naseer Dadi, was a petty criminal and used to extort money from the prime accused in the case,Saddam Momin Hussain (19). In order to get rid of this, the latter, along with his three accomplices, killed Dadi.
Apart from Hussain, the arrested include Nisar Patan (23),Yunus Sheikh (20) and Javed Sheikh (19).
Hussain was acquainted with Dadi and the latter used to extort money from him. Though the earlier amounts were in the range of a few thousands, the latest demand made by Dadi was of
Rs 50,000,which Hussain could not afford. He therefore decided to kill him to put an end to these extortions, said DCB Sub Inspector Bharat Patel.
According to the police,on January 16,the accused took Dadi to Sarkhej in Hussains Wagon R car on the pretext of giving him the ransom money there.
Enroute Sarkhej, the four took Dadi to a deserted place on the pretext of smoking charas. Dadi, who was addicted to cannabis got lured and readily walked with the four, Patel said.
On reaching there, the four took out baseball bats and knives they had hidden there and pounced at Dadi. The four fled from the place, leaving him in a pool of blood. He succumbed to his injuries and was spotted by some locals a day later.
