Five persons of a family from Rajasthan were killed and two others were injured when there car rammed into a luxury bus on National Highway 8 in Khanpur taluka of the Panchmahals district early on Sunday.
The incident occurred at around 5am when the driver of the car lost control and the vehicle veered on the wrong side. It collided head-on with a luxury bus on its way from Modasa in Sabarkantha district to Vadodara. The accident took place near Naroda village in Khanpur taluka,29 km from Lunawada town in the Panchamahals.
The family was returning to their native place in Karoli district of Rajasthan after attending a marriage function in Lunawada. The driver lost control,jumped the median and drove on the wrong side. The car turned turtle and the five were killed on the spot, Bapor police sub-inspector Vikramsinh Raulji told The Indian Express over phone.
The victims have been identified as Satyanarayn Sharma (32),his wife Rajeshwari Sharma (30),their children Gaurav (8) and Umakumari (13) and nephew Mayank Pandit. Police said Satyanaryan was an advocate and his wife was a native of Lunawada town.
Mayanks mother Monu Pandit and cars driver Farouq were injured in the crash and were rushed to government hospital in Lunawada. Later,they were shifted to a hospital in Ahmedabad.
After the crash,the drive of the luxury bus fled the spot.
A hunt is on to arrest the driver of the luxury bus. However,how the collision took place would be known only after the driver of the car regains consciousness, Raulji further said. Police said both the drivers were from Rajasthan.
Bapor police have filed a case of accidental deaths and started further investigating in this regard.
