The Borsad police on Friday arrested five men for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl for five days.
According to the police,the girl,a resident of Haripura village in Khambhat taluka,came to the town on May 26 to meet her fiancé. She took an autorickshaw from the railway station and went to a bus stop where her fiancé was supposed to meet her. But he did not turn up,police said.
Following this,auto driver Javed Pathan allegedly convinced her to accompany him. As night was falling,the girl agreed to go to his house where he raped her, said Borsad town police inspector Deepak Bhatia.
The next morning,Javed asked a friend to take care of the girl. The man bought her food and clothes and allegedly raped her. This continued till May 30 during which three others also allegedly raped her,police said.

On Thursday night,a police patrolling party found the girl crying near a garden in Anand. On inquiring,the girl narrated them the incident, Bhatia said,adding medical examination of the girl confirmed rape.
Following a complaint by the girl,the police arrested Javed,Moujud Mian,Hidayat Pathan,Naziruddin Malek and Mohammed Malek,all residents of Borsad. The girls fiancé is also being questioned.
The girls father has died while her mother is a farm labourer,police said,adding the girl has refused to go back home so she would be sent to a womens home in Anand.
