A major fire broke out in a commercial building in Ahmedabad in the wee hours on Tuesday, according to officials. No casualty was reported during the incident but the fire caused destruction in over three floors of the building. The blaze broke out in the C block of Titanium Square building on the SG highway in Thaltej area, said fire department officials, adding that the fire that broke out on its ninth floor, soon spread to the other floors.
According to the initial probe, the fire might have been triggered due to a short circuit, said the officials, adding that they are awaiting the forensic report.
“We received a call about the fire around 4.30 am. The actual time when the fire broke out has not been ascertained yet. When the first fire fighting teams reached the spot it had already spread to the ninth and tenth floors,” in-charge chief fire officer Jayesh Khadia told The Indian Express.
Fire brigade teams from Prahladnagar and Thaltej fire stations were dispatched immediately after receiving the call, said the officials.
A total of 28 fire tenders and other firefighting vehicles from multiple Chandkheda, Sabarmati and Maninagar, were used to control the blaze, said the officials.
It took nearly three hours for the fire brigade to bring the fire under control. However, three floors-ninth, tenth and eleventh floors-were completely destroyed, said another official. “Being early hours and a commercial building, it was not occupied by people. So no casualty was reported,” Khadia confirmed. The blaze, Khadia said, is suspected to have been caused due to a short circuit, however, the FSL team has collected the samples and a probe is on to detect how the blaze started.
