The crime branch officials stated that the accused used to don red boots of the officers and carry a baton. He used to then go to the busy market areas and targeted women travelling or walking alone.
In the recent case, he extorted Rs 15,000 and mobile of Rs 1,500 outside Kankaria Lake in Maninagaar and in another Rs 15,000 near AUDA housing in Ramol. He also extorted Rs 10,000 near CTM crossroads and Rs 8,000 near Channakyapuri on the SG Highway.
