Eye on polls,Cong apes BJP meets

With the ruling BJP organising a slew of congregations of migrants and other caste groups communities in the run-up to the state Assembly polls due late this year,the Opposition Congress has followed suit.

With the ruling BJP organising a slew of congregations of migrants and other caste groups communities in the run-up to the state Assembly polls due late this year,the Opposition Congress has followed suit.

The party has scheduled Bakshipanch Sammelan in Palsana taluka of Surat district on May 12 and OBC Sammelan at Bapasitaram chowk at Katargam on May 13.

On both occasions,national and state leaders of the party will be present. Those whose participation has been confirmed include Union Minister of State (Road and Transport) Dr Tushar Chaudhary,Union Minister of State (Railways) Bharatsinh Solanki,former union minister Shankersinh Vaghela and state Congress chief Arjun Modhwadia.

Surat Congress unit president Ashok Jirawala said,“We have organised these meetings for the Halpati community and the OBCs to energise our campaign. Many more of such functions will be held.”

The BJP has organised Uttar Bharitya Sammelan,Patidar Sammelan,Brahmin Sammelan,Bihar Sammelan and Telgu Sammelan during the past few weeks. In all these congregations,Chief Minister Narendra Modi was the chief guest.

The ruling party also plans to hold similar functions for the migrants from Rajasthan,Orissa and Maharashtra.
