Student leaders Vikas Dubey and Surendra Pratap Singh of the MSU,who were given extern notices by Vadodara police this month, were presented before the Vadodara Court on Wednesday afternoon. Niraj Jain, the counsel for both the student leaders, has demanded evidence for the charges levelled against them before serving them extern orders.
Three cases have been lodged against the two student leaders. The cases relate to the alleged threat that they had given to the former students’ union general secretary Rupesh Prajapati and irregularities committed by them in the union elections held in 2008.
Besides,it is also alleged that the student leaders used threats to collect money from students and faculties.
Jain said,”My clients have 86 witnesses including MSU professors, faculty representatives,Vadodara municipal councillors as well as principals of several schools from the city.” He said the witnesses substantiated that both the student leaders were not present at the time of the actions alleged to have been conducted by them.
“While Dubey was at his hometown Gorakhpur,Singh was also not present when the said incidents occurred during the elections,” he said. In the Rupesh Prajapati incident, both the leaders had at that time gone to the residence of the former V-C Manoj Soni to discuss something.
However,Soni’s testimony is yet to be taken by the police,Jain added.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled on February 5.
