The Babra police said the body was found from a farmhouse located near Chavdas house in the village. Deceaseds brother told the police that Chavda had been jobless since October and tried to get some other work, but in vain.
According to the police, the Chavdas are landless and both brothers were making their ends meet through labour work. Kalu Chavda had been working as a diamond worker for over six years. He had shifted to Bhavnagar to work in a polishing unit. But the unit, the police said, did not open after the Diwali vacation.
The deceased had been living in a rented house in Bhavnagar. After being rendered jobless,he could not afford the rent, which forced him to come back to the village.
The Amreli district has over 1,400 polishing units with nearly 60,000 workers. But majority of them are now jobless. Following slump in the diamond industry, most of these units did not open the shutter after Diwali.
