Disguised as wedding guests, cops nab Gujarat’s ‘most-wanted’ accused absconding for 12 years

The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of the Dahod police disguised as guests of a wedding procession to nab a high-profile accused from his hideout in Meghnagar in Madhya Pradesh.

The Dahod LCB was tipped off about the hideout of Sangada who carries a reward of Rs 10,000. The LCB, which formed several teams to nab the accused, traced him to a thickly populated locality in Meghnagar. The accused was caught unawares after a dozen police personnel joined a wedding procession dressed as guests and swooped in on Sangada Sunday.
“We have found that the accused has been booked in 130 FIRs in Dahod district and we have also communicated with other districts to find out if he is yet to be arrested in other cases in the state. So far, we have found a total of 144 cases against him… He has been on the run for about 12 years. The LCB team, led by Police Inspector KD Dindor, registered a big success by nabbing him from his hideout yesterday,” said Dahod Superintendent of Police Balram Meena.
While 130 prohibition cases against Sangada have been registered in the Dahod district, the police have also found nine cases in Panchmahal, one in Vadodara and four at Meghnagar police station. A team of 23 police personnel of the Dahod LCB joined in the manhunt for Sangada.
