Protests in Ahmedabad today: From belans to ‘homage’ to scrapped notes

Ahmedabad district president of the Sangh, Ashish Kanjariya said, “The only motive behind this event is that we want the present government to remember the promise they made before coming to power which unfortunately was not accomplished.”

The Akhil Bhartiya Jana Sangh, Ahmedabad has decided to “pay homage” to the scrapped notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100. Ahmedabad district president of the Sangh, Ashish Kanjariya said, “The only motive behind this event is that we want the present government to remember the promise they made before coming to power which unfortunately was not accomplished.”

The Gujarat Jan Andolan, led by Nirjhari Sinha, has decided to clank belans (rolling pins) on steel plates at the Sardar Baug in Laldarwaja to register their protest against the demonetisation drive.

Sinha said, “It has been one year since demonetisation. But the government has not answered how much black money was eradicated. Did terrorism vanish? We as a country still haven’t recovered from this hara-kiri on the Indian economy.”

The GJA protest is titled “Tumne Ki Hamari Notebandi, Hum Karenge Tumhari Votebandi”.
