Delhi cops land in Gujarat for IPL spot-fixing probe

A team of Delhi Police’s Special Cell,which is probing the IPL spot-fixing scandal,reached Ahmedabad Saturday morning and began its investigations in three districts of the state.

Among those arrested in the case,four have links to Gujarat — bookies Manan Bhatt,Jupiter alias Chandresh Patel from Ahmedabad,Ramesh Vyas from Banaskantha and cricketer Amit Singh,who lived in Ahmedabad.

While a team of Delhi Police is camping in Ahmedabad,another team has gone to Banaskantha. A third team is camping in Mehsana,from where several bookies allegedly operated.

Meanwhile,sources said the Forensic Science Laboratory in Gandhinagar may be approached by Delhi Police to examine tapes of conversations between cricketers and bookies.

FSL director MS Dahiya said,“Although they have not communicated to us so far,we will do a forensic examination of the tapes here,if required.”
