Complying with the Supreme Court order to stay out of Gujarat till November 15,former state home minister Amit Shah left for Mumbai with son Jay on Sunday morning. He is an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case and currently out on bail.
When contacted in the evening,Shah said he was out of the state but refused to specify his whereabouts. Yes I am out of Gujarat but I need not disclose where I am right now, he said when asked which place he was going to stay till the period the apex court has asked him to stay out of Gujarat. Sources close to Shah, however, said he had gone to Mumbai along with his son.
Earlier, after the Gujarat High Court granted bail to the BJP leader on Friday, the CBI had approached the Supreme Court for cancellation of the bail. The apex court has fixed November 15 as the next date for hearing the plea and, till then, asked Shah to stay out of Gujarat amid prosecutions apprehension that if allowed to stay in the state during the bail period,he might influence witnesses.
Shah has indirectly admitted that he was passing through a bad patch in his public life but this was just a passing phase and that he would emerge victorious in the end.
