The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has applied for transfer warrant to get custody of Mohammed Abrar Babu Khan alias Abrar Shaikh,a wanted accused in the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts who was arrested from Aurangabad on Monday.

Police believe Abrar may provide some important links to the terror camps that were running in Gujarat and Kerela before the blasts in Ahmedabad.

“Abrar was involved in setting up the Waghmon terror training camp. He was part of the conspiracy behind the Ahmedabad blasts from the beginning along with the MP module,” said a senior Crime Branch officer.

The Crime Branch’s investigation shows Abrar, while working for the Waghmon camp, was in close contact with the Bhatkal brothers — Riyaz and Yasin, both wanted for the Ahmedabad blasts.

He was allegedly part of the MP module of the Indian Mujahideen and was actively involved with other IM members, now in custody of the MP ATS.
