A metropolitan court on Monday deferred its order on the closure report of Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) that gave clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others from their alleged complicity in the 2002 post Godhra riots.

Magistrate B J Ganatra scheduled the next date of pronouncement of order on December 2. The SIT report is based on allegations against Modi and 59 others levelled by Zakia Jafri, whose husband Ehsan Jafri was burnt alive by a violent mob in the Gulberg Society Massacre during the riots.

Last year, the SIT concluded its finding and submitted a bulky report in the court stating that there was no case against Modi and others. The SIT discarded the allegations as “hearsay” and “fiction.” Following the submission of report Jafri filed a protest petition challenging the report.
