The Additional Sessions Court on Saturday adjourned hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Narayan Sai till Monday even as defence lawyer Kalpesh Desai sought time to submit affidavits by Sai’s mother and sister, claiming that the signature on the petition was genuine.
The Surat police had found the signatures of Sai on his passport different from that on his anticipatory bail petition. Desai requested court to give him one more day to submit affidavits of Asaram’s wife Laxmi and daughter Bharti, confirming the signature to be Sai’s.
The police team stationed in Delhi left for Surat along with Dharmesh Parihar,a close aide of Sai,on Saturday.
The police suspect Parihar got signatures on the anticipatory bail petition done and was in constant touch with Sai,who is absconding.
The remand of Mohit Bhojwani,a disciple of Sai,ended on Friday and he was produced before the court and later sent to judicial custody in Surat central jail.
