A youth who was severely beaten up on the main road near Chaudhary High School in Rajkot on Thursday, has alleged that the name of BJP councilor Anil Rathod is missing from the complaint he had initially registered.
Jaydeepsinh Rana,a resident of Bhomeshwar Plot, has alleged that Rathod, his son Vinu and their supporters beat him up on the busy road and later the police, under political pressure, removed Rathods name from the FIR.
Rana, who sustained severe injuries, including one on his head, has now written an application to Rajkot Commissioner of Police Geetha Johri to include Rathods name in the complaint. Rana is still admitted at the Rajkot Civil Hospital and submitted the application through his father Rajendrasinh and leaders of the Kshatriya community.
Rana said,on Thursday night, while he was speaking to his friend at the Deluxe Paan shop near Chaudhary High School,Vinu threatened them against making any comment on the Bharwad community. Rana said that soon Anil, one Piyush Rathod and three others arrived and attacked him with sticks and pipes.
Rana said no one came to his aid as the attackers beat him up,leaving him in a pool of blood. His family rushed him to the hospital.
Rana said at the time of admission he had registered a complaint at the hospital chowky naming Rathod,Vinu,Piyush and three others under IPC sections 307,326,323 and 506(2). Later,a policeman called up his father saying they need to register a fresh complaint as the previous one was improper,Rana said, adding that the new complaint did not mention Anil Rathod.Johri has assured the community of a fair probe .
