Congress Municipal Councillor Bhavesh Bhatt has sent a letter to the Vadodara Municipal Commissioner, demanding penalty for VMC officials responsible for supplying contaminated water to Tarsali area residents in the city.
In his letter to Manish Bharadwaj ,Bhatt, who is a councillor in Tarsali, has stated that it was unfortunate that no municipal officers is supervising the work of connecting the water supply lines in the south of the city.
It was learnt that water was getting contaminated in the process of connecting the existing water pipes in the Tarsali water tank to those in the Soma lake. The skewering process of the same has not been supervised adequately, leading to contamination, states the letter.
Bhatt has demanded immediate cleaning of the Tarsali tank and called for penal action against the negligent civic officials. This is the only way to make VMC officers understand that they need to do their duty instead of putting residents at risk of (contracting) diseases from contaminated water. We are confident that the commissioner will take the right decision.
Despite several attempts,Manish Bharadwaj was unavailable for comment.
