Ahmedabad:Five persons,including a policeman,were injured when two groups clashed at Palanpur in Banaskantha district late Tuesday night. Police said there was a petty dispute between two youths belonging to different religions at a shop in the evening. Around 11 pm,however,about 200 people from both sides attacked each other with wooden sticks and iron rods. Mobs also vandalised shops and houses in Kamalpura,Delhi Gate and Nani Bazaar areas. Police said about a dozen people had been arrested by Wednesday evening.
Govt hikes financial aid for artisans
Gandhinagar:The state government on Wednesday announced a hike in the financial assistance being provided to artisans associated with cottage and village industries for their skill development. This aid will be made available for modern tools,common facility support,margin money,market availability etc and different artisan groups,self-help groups and industrial cooperatives will be eligible for it,said government spokesman Jainarayan Vyas. The government has increased the number of skilled workers,who can avail this aid,in a group from 25 to 100. The skill development limit has been increased from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh and assistance for common facilities from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. ENS
