Bhavsinh Dahyabhai Rathod,a Congress MLA from Sami constituency in north Gujarat, has resigned from the party, alleging intense infighting among top three leaders and anti-poor policies.
Sources close to him denied that he had reconsidered the decision to quit even as GPCC president Siddharth Patel claimed ignorance about the latest development.
While Patel insists he had not received any letter from Rathod, the latter released copies of the letter to media, listing reasons why he had decided to resign.
Patel said Rathod had last met him on Saturday night, but till then there was no talk of quitting.
Sources said Rathods decision to quit was final, but he has not considered joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),which is already sending feelers to him.
We are in touch with our community members and will take any decision on whether to join any other party or not only after a consensus, said Rathods son,Kishoresinh.
