The Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will launch a Hisaab Do,Jawab Do campaign to expose the rampant corruption under the Narendra Modi government in the state.
During the campaign to be kicked off on February 6,the Congress will organise rallies, dharnas and public meetings in different districts and talukas.
Through memoranda to be submitted to the government officials, the party would ask the government to give account of the various scams that have surfaced in the state during the last 10 years Modi regime.
In a statement issued on Tuesday,GPCC President Arjun Modhwadia said the party would specifically focus on Rs 1 lakh crore corruption in alleged 17 scams,Rs 9,100 crore deferred payment of sales tax to Essar resulting in direct loss of annual interest of Rs 1,200 crore to the state treasury and the CAG report questioning the expenditure of Rs 26,672 crore.
Modhwadia said volume of corruption in Modi regime was so high that three big projects like Narmada, besides free power supply to farmers and all the medical and engineering colleges in the state, could be financed from the alleged scam money.
The Congress leader alleged that over Rs 5,000 crore had been spent on the personal publicity of Modi by holding Sadbhavna programmes and various festivals.
The only beneficiaries of this drama are Modi and BJP,and not the people of the state. So,Modi will have to give an account of it to the people, Modhwadia said.
