Following a letter of complaint by Congress MLA from Kodinar Dhirsinh Barad that police were not taking any action in the criminal cases pending against the kin of Dinu Solanki, the BJP MP from Junagadh,Chief Minister Narendra Modi has directed the home department to take necessary action.
I have given instructions to to additional chief secretary (home) for taking necessary action, Modi said in a letter to Barad.
On March 13,Barad had written to Modi that Solankis kin were not arrested by the Kodinar police despite being booked on serious charges like rioting three years ago.
Along with case details,I also submitted an RTI response from the police clearly stating that they had not arrested the main accused in the rioting cases, who happen to be Solankis kin, said Barad.
The Congress MP also claimed that in the RTI reply by police, the column for the address of the accused not arrested so far has been left blank.
In all, there are three cases related to rioting, causing hurt and unlawful assembly registered between September and October 2009 in which the accused are Ravi Solanki and Shiva Solanki, both nephews of Dinu Solanki,Dinus brother Amarshinh Solanki and Natu Vala, another relative.
Shiva is at present lodged in the Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad in connection with the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethava.
Jethavas father Bhikubhai has been alleging that Dinu Solanki also played a role in the murder of his son,who had named the MP in a petition on illegal mining in Gir Wildlife Sanctuary.
A special investigation team formed to probe Solankis role in the murder has given him a clean chit.
Recently,Barad also wrote to the Governor seeking security cover, saying he feared that Solanki and Finance Minister Vaju Vala would get him and his nephew Ranjitsinh killed in a police encounter.
