‘Computer on wheels’ to reach out to tribals

In a move to make tribal students computer literate,Gujarat University will soon launch a “computer on wheels” programme,with 17 computers in a van in the tribal areas of Dahod and Panchmahals.

In a move to make tribal students computer literate,Gujarat University (GU) will soon launch a “computer on wheels” programme,with 17 computers in a van in the tribal areas of Dahod and Panchmahals.

Vice-Chancellor Parimal Trivedi said students would be taught about basics of computers. He said computer literacy had become necessary in the present era. Computer literacy,he said,would help the tribal students in securing jobs.

Asked if any fees would be charged,he said minimum fees would be claimed from students.

The total expenses for the programme would be around Rs 30 lakh,he added.
