Coldplay set to perform for ‘their biggest-ever stadium audience globally’ in Ahmedabad

Known for their breathtaking performances, Coldplay will perform hits from their Grammy-nominated album ‘Music Of The Spheres’, along with brand new singles ‘We Pray’ from their recent release ‘Moon Music’.

In what has been pitched as a “monumental milestone” for Coldplay, the British rock band is set to perform in Ahmedabad on January 25 next year for the “biggest-ever stadium audience globally”. Around 1 lakh fans are expected to attend the concert that will be organised at the Narendra Modi Stadium which will also have a ‘mystery guest’ as per the poster put out on their official X handle Wednesday.

On Wednesday, BookMyShow — which has produced and promoted the British band’s India tour — announced that tickets for the Ahmedabad show will go live at noon on November 16. Coldplay also took to its official social media accounts to make the announcement, which has come as a big surprise for Ahmedabad.

“Due to incredible fan demand, BookMyShow Live has announced a fourth show for Coldplay’s record-breaking ‘Music Of The Spheres World Tour’ in India… at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on January 25th, 2025 for a potential audience of 1,00,000 fans. The show in Ahmedabad marks a monumental milestone for Coldplay as they will perform the largest stadium show of their career right here in India, bringing a moment of pride and honour to the entire nation,” read an official release.

“The only way to better serve the record-breaking demand for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour in India has been to secure the country’s largest venue, making it possible to host Coldplay for their biggest-ever stadium audience globally. Our commitment to the consumers remains our priority as we raise the bar for live events and put India on the global entertainment map,” it further added. The British band, which has fans across the world, was formed in 1997.

The tickets for the Ahmedabad concert by the Grammy-award winners will be priced between 2,500 to 12,500 per person in the backdrop of the ongoing investigation of the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) into the allegations of black marketing of tickets of the Mumbai concert of the band.

“To ensure a level-playing field for all fans,” the official release further highlighted, “the ticket booking process will feature a virtual queue with a waiting room, where fans will be allocated queue positions through an Automated Queue Randomisation System, when the sale goes live. Fans are encouraged to go through the detailed ticketing guide,” added the statement.

Known for their breathtaking performances, Coldplay will perform hits from their Grammy-nominated album ‘Music Of The Spheres’, along with brand new singles ‘We Pray’ from their recent release ‘Moon Music’.

Fans can also look forward to anthems from the band’s unparalleled discography, including ‘Yellow’, ‘The Scientist’, ‘Clocks’, ‘Fix You’, ‘Viva La Vida’, ‘Paradise’, ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ and ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’. Coldplay also confirmed they will make a limited number of ‘Infinity Tickets’ available for the shows at noon on November 22 for fans for an affordable price of Rs 2,000. “They are restricted to a maximum of two tickets per purchaser and must be bought in pairs (which will be located next to each other). Locations will be revealed when fans pick up their tickets in person at the box office on the day of the show and can be throughout the venue from the floor to the upper levels, side view seats and everywhere in between,” the release said.

Calling it a ‘historic concert’ for Ahmedabad, Dhanraj Nathwani, President, Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), said, “This historic Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad not only positions our city on the global entertainment map but also reflects the vibrancy and modern infrastructure of Gujarat. It’s an honour for us to host Coldplay’s largest stadium show in the world, bringing immense pride to our state and city. Earlier, in 2020, the Narendra Modi stadium had hosted the ‘Namaste Trump’ event to welcome US President Donald Trump during his first tenure.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai EOW is investigating a complaint that accuses Bookmyshow of facilitating black marketing of tickets of the much-hyped three concerts of Coldplay in Mumbai, where they will perform at the DY Patil Sports Stadium, Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra on January 18, 19, and 21.
