Temperatures fell appreciably below normal across the state with a maximum decline witnessed in Saurashtra, Kutch and South Gujarat areas. Northerly to Northeasterly winds are prevailing at lower levels in the state resulting in cold wave conditions in parts of Saurashtra while the weather remained dry over the rest of the state.
The meteorological department has predicted the cold wave condtions to continue in parts of Saurashtra, Kutch and Diu areas on Wednesday while it will remain sunny in remaining districts. After a rise in minimum temperature over last week, it again dropped to 7.3 degree celsius, the lowest recorded at Mahua on Tuesday, 8 degrees below normal temperature, as the night temperatures fell appreciably in parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat. Porbandar in Saurashtra too witnessed a decline of minimum temperature by 5 degrees, recorded at 10 degree celsius. Rajkot was at 9.8 degree celsius and Bhuj in Kutch region recorded 9.5 degree celsius. Valsad in South Gujarat recorded maximum temperature at 25 degree Celsius (3 degrees below normal) and a minimum of 11 degree Celsius (4 degrees below normal).
The minimum temperature recorded in Gandhinagar was 9.5 degree Celsius while in Ahmedabad it was 12.4 degree Celsius. The maximum was at 24.8 degree Celsius, a decline of 4 degrees below normal. The Ahmedabad forecast by met department for Wednesday is clear sky with minimum temperature hovering around 11 degree Celsius.
