Coast Guard officer’s wife ‘throws 2 kids off balcony’
Arrested under charges of murder, say Daman police
“The family has been staying in Daman for the last three years... We will record the statements of the Coast Guard to determine what happened,” Bansal also said.
Following an argument with her husband, who is a Daman Coast Guard officer, a 29-year-old woman allegedly threw her two children, aged two and three, off the balcony of their fourth-floor house resulting in their death, police said.
The woman also tried to end her life by jumping off the balcony but was stopped by her husband, they added.
The incident took place around midnight on Monday; the woman was arrested under the charges of murder on Tuesday.
According to details received from Daman police, which have withheld the name of the officer, the woman had a heated exchange with her husband at their home in Dalvada in Nani Daman.
The woman then went to the bedroom with their two children, they added.
After some time, the husband went to the bedroom and spotted the woman attempting to jump from the balcony and stopped her. This was when he realised that she had already thrown their two children off the same balcony, police said.
The officer immediately rushed to the ground floor and took both the children to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Moti Daman where the doctor declared them dead.

On receiving information from medical staffers, Kadaiya police reached the CHC and noted down details of the incident. The officer’s mother lodged a complaint of murder against her daughter-in-law.
Talking to The Indian Express, Daman police officer Ketan Bansal said, “After primary investigation, we found that the couple had quarreled over an unknown reason. Angered by this, the woman killed both her children by throwing them from the fourth-floor balcony onto the ground. We have arrested her under murder charges.”
