Taking a lenient view of its staff in the water department, the municipal corporation avoided fixing responsibility on Tuesday for the contamination found in water samples collected from Asarwa ward earlier this month. The samples were taken after over half a dozen students of Asarwa Hindi School were hospitalised and one girl,Puja Patel, reportedly died. Municipal Medical Officer Health Dr Suhas Kulkarni said,“Though water samples from the area were found contaminated,no responsibility has to be fixed in this case. Water lines in the area have been washed and cleaned up after the incident.” He further said,“There was no contamination found in the Mid Day Meal food samples taken from the school”.
