City bids farewell to master magician

People in large numbers paid homage to renowned magician K Lal who was cremated here on Monday.

People in large numbers paid homage to renowned magician K Lal who was cremated here on Monday. Among others,magicians from Delhi,Udaipur and Gujarat reached his residence this morning and paid their last respects to the master illusionist.

Mayor Asit Vora and municipal commissioner Guruprasad Mohapatra also paid homage to Lal at his residence.

The funeral procession started from his residence at Riverview apartments on the Ashram Road at 10.30 am. The procession travelled through Navrangpura,H L Commerce,Vijay and Helmet crossroads before reaching the crematorium,Mukti Dham,on the SG highway around 12.30 pm.

Earlier today,addressing a gathering at Lal’s native village Bagasara in Amreli district,Chief Minister Narendra Modi said that for over six decades,Lal made a name for himself through the art of magic.

“He has made not only Gujarat but the entire country proud,” Modi said,adding that his work is known across several countries.

The 88-year-old magician died at his residence on Sunday morning due to old age-related diseases.
