The Gujarat High Court on Thursday issued a notice to journalist Mahesh Langa in a plea filed by the state government challenging the November 2024 anticipatory bail granted to him in an alleged case of cheating a complainant, who runs an advertising agency.

On Thursday, Justice UT Desai issued notice to Langa, admitting the petition filed by the state government challenging the order of the sessions court, which had granted anticipatory bail to Langa in the FIR lodged at Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in Ahmedabad– the third case lodged against the journalist – in October last year.

The complainant alleged that he had transferred Rs 28.68 lakh to Langa for various reasons and when he sought repayment, he was allegedly threatened with negative publicity.
