CEPT varsity centre of excellence in urban planning, design
CEPT University has also been recognised as a centre of excellence by the Gujarat government, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research of the Union Government has recognised it as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.

The Union government on Tuesday recognised the CEPT University in Ahmedabad as a centre of excellence (COE) in the field of urban planning and design. This comes with an endowment of Rs 250 crore to be used towards the development and training on India-specific knowledge in urban planning and design over 25 years.
Bimal Patel, president of CEPT University, said in a statement: “We are thankful to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for considering us worthy of this recognition… We will work with the MoHUA on moving forward with the activities of the COE. This recognition is a testament to the tremendous efforts of all members of the university and is a moment of immense pride for everyone.”
“Urban planning and urban design are central to the development of the country. City regions are key contributors to the economy and with more urbanisation, there is need to greatly improve the towns and cities to reap the benefits of urbanisation for a better quality of life and economic growth,” he added.
CEPT University has also been recognised as a centre of excellence by the Gujarat government, the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research of the Union Government has recognised it as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization.
Patel further said, “CEPT University has been a leader in the fields of urban planning and design for decades. Since 1972, CEPT has made significant contributions to the teaching, practice and research in the areas of urban planning and design and has also trained of thousands of government and in-service professionals.”
