The CBI team investigating the 2004 Ishrat Jahan encounter case has summoned police constable Kirit Gadhvi,who is said to have received a call from a PCO in Gandhinagar,from where Javed Sheikh,one of the four persons killed,had also reportedly received a call a week before the encounter. Gadhvi has been summoned by the CBI to appear before it on September 26. Gadhvi is posted in police headquarters,Gandhinagar district. The call record data,annexed with the CBI chargesheet,states that Javed Sheikh had received a call from landline number 23242288 on June 6,a week before the encounter took place. On that day,he was travelling from Kerala to Pune. The number was identified as that of a PCO in Sector 21 of Gandhinagar. Sources said this PCO was used to call Muzammil,the alleged handler of Lashkar-e-Toiba. CBI officers were not available for comments. Sources said that Gadhvi is approaching his seniors to save him from CBI.
