Ahead of Bakra-Eid (Eid-ul-Zuha), a group of people clashed with police on Friday midnight after a mini truck, allegedly carrying calves for slaughter, was stopped. Eight persons have been booked for ferrying calves and attacking police. The entire incident has been caught on CCTV camera.

At around 1 am, a police team apprehended a mini truck near Mirzapur meat market that falls under Shahpur police station in old city. Police officials claimed that the truck was carrying 14 calves and, therefore, it was detained. The FIR states that the driver of the truck and his assistants allegedly attacked the cops. Moments later a group of persons led by Hanif Langda attacked the police team. They pelted stones at the cops in which several police vehicles were damaged.

The police said the situation was immediately brought under control in couple of minutes. “There was a minor clash which we controlled with minutes,” Virendra Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-one said. He said that within minutes four teams of police reached the spot and since then no untoward incident was reported.

An FIR has been lodged against Langda and seven other persons who have been identified as Jamaluddin Sheikh, Jahangir Kureshi, Mohsin Dadhi, Mayuddin, Gulab Wahid among others.
