Bullet train project: 3 flyovers to be closed in Ahmedabad

Asarwa bridge will be completely closed for traffic between February 22 and March 23; Parts of the Cadila flyover and the BRTS route, from March 8 to April 4; and Nathalal Jhagadia bridge between February 18 and February 28.

Three flyovers in Ahmedabad will be partially or completely closed as work on the the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), India’s first bullet train project, will be underway. As per a notification from the Ahmedabad city police, certain sections of the track need to be assembled on the pillars of the flyovers.

1. Asarwa bridge

Asarwa bridge (Amarsinh Chaudhary bridge) will be completely closed for traffic between February 22 and March 23.

Alternate Routes

— Those coming from Delhi Darwaza, Dariyapur Darwaza and Prem Darwaza can head towards Idgah circle and Idgah bridge (Girdharnagar bridge), reach Girdharnagar circle and turn right towards Asarwa crossing.

— Those coming from Saraspur, Gomtinagar and Bapunagar can take the side road under the Asarwa bridge, go towards Civil Hospital or Girdharnagar circle and then towards Delhi Darwaza, Dariyapur Darwaza and Prem Darwaza.

*Those coming from Civil Hospital can turn right towards Girdharnagar crossroads and access the Idgah bridge.

2. Cadila Bridge

Parts of the Cadila flyover and the BRTS route on it will be partially closed from March 8 to April 4.

What’s open?

The BRTS will have access to side roads. Only one side of the road, where work is not under way, will be open for normal traffic.

3. Nathalal Jhagadia bridge

The Nathalal Jhagadia bridge connecting Khokhara and Maninagar will be completely closed between February 18 to February 28.

Alternate Routes

— Those coming from Khokhara and Hatkeshwar can turn left at Madrasi Mandir AMTS bus stop and take the Railway Colony crossroads, to Maninagar railway crossing and then towards Kankaria.

— Those coming from LG Hospital and Kankaria can go to Jayhind crossroads, turn left towards Maninagar railway crossing, and head towards Anupam Cinema, Jashodanagar and Khokhara.
