The district court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of Vismay Shah, accused in the BMW hit-and-run case in Ahmedabad. It was Shah’s 10th attempt to secure a bail. Shah is currently in judicial custody at the Sabarmati Central Jail.

Shah had filed the bail application stating that he had been in judicial custody since long, the case was not going to be completed anytime in future, and he was ready to fulfil any condition for bail. However, the district magistrate refused to give any respite to Shah while stating that there was no new ground based on which the accused should be freed.

Shah had filed an application for bail last month. The victim’s family had objected to this and requested the court that Shah should not be released.

Earlier,Shah’s applications were rejected by lower courts,The Gujarat High Court as well as the Supreme Court. Last week, his petition for discharging the case was rejected by the High Court.

On February 24,Shah rammed his car into a motorcycle near Lad Society in the city, killing two youths,Shivam Dave (25) and Rahul Patel (21).

Two months later the Vastrapur police, which investigated the case, filed a 108-page chargesheet against Shah claiming that he had hit a car near Judges Bungalow crossroads and was fleeing for three days after the accident. He was reportedly driving at a speed of 110 km per hour.
