The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to observe April 14,the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar,as the Samrasta Divas (harmony day) in Gujarat under the aegis of its SC Morcha. This and other decisions were taken at a state-level office-bearers meeting in Gandhinagar circuit house on Wednesday.
Chaired by state president R C Faldu, the meeting also decided to send vistaraks (extenders) in two Lok Sabha constituencies and four Assembly constituencies, where by-elections are due. These vistaraks will visit poll-bound areas from April 15 to 20 when they will also launch the BJP poll campaign in those areas, said state BJP spokesman I K Jadeja after the meeting. The constituencies are Banaskantha and Porbandar (Lok Sabha) and Dhoraji,Jetpur,Limbdi and Morva Hadaf (Assembly),Jadeja said.
State office-bearers lambasted the Congress for taking out Jal Yatra, flagged off from Dwarka during the day, accusing it of shedding crocodile tears instead of co-operating with the state government in approaching the Centre for securing permission to raise the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam. It was also decided that the party would go to people to take facts of this matter to the people.
While Faldu and former national vice-president Purshottam Rupala thanked party workers for the successful organisation of the BJPs foundation day on April 6 in the city, they also announced completion of the organisational restructuring by the end of this month. Priority will be given to finalising restructuring of taluka and district units of the party organisation,Jadeja said.
