The BJP Tuesday named its nominees for the June 2 bypolls,which include the father-son duo of Vitthal Radadiya and Jayesh who had quit Congress to join BJP early this year.
Four Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats are going to polls on June 2.
Vitthal Radadiya has been declared BJP candidate for the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat,which he had won for Congress in the 2009. He will be pitted against Vinu Amipara of Congress,who filed his nomination papers today.
For Banaskantha LS seat,BJP has chosen Haribhai Chaudhry,a former MP from the party.
Jayesh Radadiya has been fielded for Jetpur Assembly seat,which he won in the December 2012 polls on a Congress ticket,only to quit the party and resign as MLA a few months later.
For Dhoraji Assembly seat,which was won by Radadiya Senior during the Assembly polls last year,the ruling BJP has decided to field Pravin Mankdia,a former MLA from Upleta seat that was wiped out post-delimitation.
For Morva Hadaf Assembly seat,the BJP has picked Nimisha Suthar,a party worker.
Former minister Kiritsinh Rana is the party candidate for Limdi Assembly seat,according to the partys media in-charge Jagdish Bhavsar.
All BJP candidates,except Vitthal Radadiya,filed their nominations today. Radadiya will file his on Wednesday,the last day for nominations.
AMC gears up for monsoon mess
The city municipal corporation Tuesday held a joint meeting with heads of other departments for a pre-monsoon action plan. It also identified 31 places where the locals have been facing waterlogging problems,said standing committee chairman Bhupendra Patel.
