The Congress,on Tuesday, alleged that the BJP had no right to talk about black money in Swiss banks when the saffron party was itself tainted with corruption and financial scams during the NDA regime.

Chief spokesperson Arjun Modhwadia told mediapersons that the BJP should introspect before levelling allegations against other parties, which it could not corroborate. As for the black money issue,Modhwadia said the UPA government had already taken up the matter with the German and the Swiss governments.

He said the UPA had nothing to hide in this issue. In fact,it had informed the top BJP leadership about the steps taken by it in this regard and hence there was no need for the party to make a political issue out of it,more so when it had done nothing to recover the black money while in power.

Modhwadia attacked the BJP for the NDA’s involvement in the coffin scam during the Kargil conflict, the acceptance of cash by the then BJP president Bangaru Laxman in a Rs 25,000 cr arms deal, the Unit Trust of India scandal, the selling of the Rs 6000-crore Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO) for a mere Rs 551 cr on the pretext of disinvestment, and the sale of Mumbai’s 288 room five star Centaur Hotel to the Sahara group for a paltry Rs 100 crores. He also mentioned the CAG’s indictment of the Narendra Modi government over discrepancies in the Sujlam-Sufalam water conservation project.

Modhwadia questioned the silence of the state government and the BJP politicians over the mysterious death of two boys of the Asaram Ashram-run Gurukul last July as well as charges of land grabbing by the Asaram Bapu Ashram that had been established by the state government during a recent survey.
