Bike theft racket busted,two arrested

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Vadodara on Friday busted a bike theft racket and arrested two Dahod men. The officials also recovered 22 motorbikes which the gang had allegedly stolen from the city.

Acting on a tip-off,officials stopped two men riding a motorcycle near Golden Chowkdi on the outskirts of the city on Thursday afternoon. The duo could not provide document of the bike and confessed that they had stolen the vehicle. They have been identified as Mahesh alias Batko Bhuria (22) a resident of Vaju village in Garbada taluka of Dahod and Suresh alias Suriyo Parmar (23) of neighbouring Chimaliya village in Garbada.

“They used to steal bikes from Gotri and Gorwa area by breaking their steering locks and sell them in Garbad for Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 each. They would say the buyers that they would get RC books after a few days,” DCB PSI Vikram Palas said.

The gang had stolen 22 bikes in the last four months,he further said. Police took the duo to Dahod and recovered all the stolen bikes and arrested the thieves on Friday.

Police have booked the duo for theft and started investigation.
