Bhatt case: SC rejects plea for interim stay on HC order

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an application seeking interim stay on a Gujarat High Court order asking lower court in Khambhalia to hear suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt in connection with a custodial death case of 1990.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an application seeking interim stay on a Gujarat High Court order asking lower court in Khambhalia to hear suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt in connection with a custodial death case of 1990.

The plea was filed by Amrutlal Vaishnani,brother of the deceased.

“The SC rejected the plea as it was filed without the written order of the HC,” said Bhatt’s counsel Iqbal Saiyed. He added the HC passed the order on March 23 and its written copy was still not available.
