Feroz Sindhi, who exports Alphonso mangoes to Sri Lanka and London from Dharampur, said,“We are more than happy to grab such an opportunity. We will also get good prices from the company. With this opportunity many of the farmers will get a fixed amount directly from the company and need not bother about transportation of their produce.”

Sindhi was one of the several farmers who had come from different talukas of Valsad district for the meeting. A few villagers from neighbouring districts also participated in the meeting. The representatives from Bharti Walmart also appraised the farmers about the quality of mangoes and asked them to show some samples of mangoes and veggies that the company was keen to procure.

The deputy director of Horticulture at Valsad and Dang C D Chaudhary said,“It is a matter of pride that the fruits and vegetables of Valsad in south Gujarat will be seen in the world market. The farmers will also get good profit.
