AMIDST THE prevailing heat wave conditions in Gujarat, the state capital Gandhinagar recorded the highest temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while Ahmedabad followed with 44.3 degrees Celsius.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the heat wave conditions are expected to prevail in Gujarat and Saurashtra, Kutch region for another two days, till May 17.
Amreli too at 44.2 degrees Celsius, was another district that recorded temperatures above 44 degrees in the state. While Surendranagar recorded 44, Vallabh Vidyanagar was at 43.8, Vadodara at 43.4, Rajkot at 43.8 and Kandla airport at 43.7 degrees Celsius.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 108 emergency services has issued a heat wave advisory.
In last two days, Friday and Saturday, as many as 1,288 heat related emergencies were reported in Gujarat. Out of which 342 were from Ahmedabad alone, 96 from Surat and 72 from Vadodara and 69 from Rajkot.
