Ashok Garud took over as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) in Western Railway here on Monday. He was previously the Chief Engineer (construction) in North East Frontier Railway Guwahati. Garud belongs to the 1978 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Engineering.
He joined the Indian Railways in 1979 as assistant engineer in Nagpur division of Central Railway. Garud has a meritorious record of service as Senior Divisional Engineer (coordination) in Nagpur and Bhusawal divisions of Central Railway. During his stint as Chief Engineer (construction),North Frontier Railway,the gauge conversion and doubling of tracks in Bihar and Bengal,were done under his guidance.
Garud has undergone special training in Barcelona in 2004 and Germany and Italy in 2008. On taking charge of the Ahmedabad Division,Garud has laid special emphasis on priority areas such as conservation,security,passenger convenience,cleanliness including additional revenue generation through enhanced freight loading.
