Ahmedabad: Traffic trouble after Subhash bridge connecting Civil hospital, Gandhinagar, shut for 5 days

Ahmedabad City on Thursday was affected by a massive traffic jam and slow moving traffic in the Shastrinagar and Shahibaug areas, which are located on two ends of Subhash bridge spanning the Sabarmati river.

The jam was triggered after the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) shut the bridge down after a detailed inspection. The closure of the bridge coincided with the evening rush hour traffic. The bridge is one of the routes to reach the airport and Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.

The AMC issued a notification that said, “The bridge project department of the AMC has begun a detailed inspection of Subhash bridge, located over the Sabarmati river in West Zone. Having found problems on the bridge, it has been closed for five days starting December 4, as part of safety measures. Dadhichi bridge can be used as an alternate route.”
